What is it?

The Women Supporting Women project supports South Asian Women, who are in crisis. We provide a culturally sensitive and language barrier free service across Tameside. We provide effective individual and group support, by having Bangla, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi speaking staff and volunteers.

We have weekly Kreative Kraft activity sessions and monthly Tea & Talk groups for women to join, to reduce isolation and learn new skills and make new friends. Weather permitting, day trips out are arranged throughout the year.

Who is it for?

South Asian Women across Tameside, aged 18+, who need support.

Opportunities

Volunteering

We have opportunities available including peer mentors, outreach helpers and general support within the project. The weekly one-to-one support is provided by volunteer peer mentors, who need to be able to speak, read and write in the English language, plus speak any one of the South Asian languages, such as Bangla, Urdu, Punjabi or Hindi.

Full training is provided on different aspects of crisis for the peer mentors. By volunteering you are helping yourself and others to build skills, experience, and knowledge for future employment opportunities.
