- A better understanding of who the victims of domestic abuse are most likely to be.
- An understanding of what honour-based abuse and forced marriage is.
- An understanding of how the risks associated with domestic abuse are calculated and what can be done.
- An awareness of the laws and legislations to protect victims including the role of the court.
- An awareness of the signs and symptoms of domestic abuse.
- Confidence to handle if someone was to disclose abuse to you.
- Each organisation will be provided with a list of support services in their locality who could help victims of domestic abuse.
Contents of the Culture and Faith Awareness session
This full day training session is designed for anyone that wants to enhance and enrich their learning on how to interact well with people of different faiths and cultures.
Participants will increase their skills and develop awareness and humility of those from different cultures and faiths. It’s not about getting the right answers – instead the training focuses on building your ability to ask the right questions and see things from a different perspective.
The training will aim to raise awareness of the cultural norms and breakdown barriers to engagement in order to increase participation within minority ethnic communities.
As part of the training session, we can also initiate mini tours if your venue is near faith centres or places of worship. This helps to build and strengthen relationships in your own communities and provide the opportunity to engage in active learning. Additional areas of learning can be added on request.
More details of both training sessions are available in the downloadable PDFs.
Community Training
Our community training offer includes Introduction to Volunteering and Confidence Building Courses and can be delivered in Bangla, Hindi or Urdu. Programmes are culturally sensitive to reduce barriers to accessing training.
